What will it cost you to sell your house?
Standard costs associated with selling real property in Connecticut include:
- Pay off existing mortgage
- Commission that you and your agent negotiated, e.g., 5%, 6%, 7%
- State of Connecticut Tax - 1/2 of 1% of the sales price
- Town Conveyance Tax - $1.10 per $1,000 of the sales price
- Attorney's fee for representing you.
At the closing or soon thereafter, your attorney will give you a folder of closing documents.
Included in these will be a RESPA* form which itemizes all costs and credits to you. This
form is what you or your accountant will need for your income taxes.
